    Catholic Wedding

Portugal is a Roman Catholic country and Catholic Church weddings in Portugal are legally recognised under the Portuguese Law.

Usually the ceremony is conducted in Portuguese but through our privileged contacts we are able to arrange a English Speaking Priest to celebrate the wedding.

To have a Catholic Wedding in Portugal you need to go through the process listed below:

Documents needed for a Catholic Wedding in Portugal:

A formal letter from your parish priest granting permission for the wedding to be performed in your chosen Portuguese church & a letter from the Bishop of the parish; This must state that you have fulfilled all PRE CANA procedures and should include some mandatory certificates. This letter must then be sent to the Portuguese Diocese.

We know it may seem a big and complicated process, but do not worry, Dream Day wedding Planners will take care of everything for you!!

Either you choose to get married in the Algarve, Lisbon or Madeira Island, wherever you choose for your marriage in Portugal, there we will be to guide you.

    Blessing

Some couples choose to have the civil wedding on their country and then celebrate with their family and friends in Portugal in a symbolic ceremony.

This is also a very romantic way for the couple to celebrate love.

A Blessing ceremony in Portugal, is neither religious nor legal. It is performed exactly like a wedding but it is not legally recognised. Legal documents are not necessary, there is no wedding permit issued and most important, it gives the couple a sense of absolute independence, since it can be held everywhere.

Dream Day Wedding Planners will take care of everything for your Blessing in Portugal. You can choose a hotel’s rooftop or a more extreme location, such as a beautiful beach, a yacht, an historic chapel, a winery, a private villa or any other place you wish. There are no limits to your Dreams.
